Pretty in PINK !

Friends asked me if I could take some photos of their daughters, naturally they would be dressed in their favourite colour… different shades of pink. Of course I did, especially since they offered a brunch to start with. I arrived with a camera, flash, diffuser and a bunch of tulips for mum. Now I know about photographing wildlife, you just take what you get, get in the best position, make the best of the light and background, think ahead, hope they do what you expect them to do. So I figured with kids there wouldn’t be a problem…. Wrong ! With kids it’s a different story !

See the problem is, if one is cooperating, the other is yawning, looking away or running off. Ask them to smile and they look cross eyed or turn away. Ask them to not to smile and look straight ahead, and they stick out their tongues, and things like that. If one is still the other is moving, asking them to jump was definitely my best request ! One at a time actually worked best, I admit I am new to this, but I am learning and getting to be a master at improvising. I should have known it wouldn’t be that easy…

The tulips were destroyed by the time we finished our photo shoot….

But it was fun, and after a while they got used to me, came running to me after every second or third “click” of the camera, can I see, can I see ? Now they even wanted to pose in their “princess dresses”. Oh boy ! So the girls off went to change, I had a coffee and tried to relax again. They posed, just not exactly where I wanted them to ( so now just as with wildlife, make the best of the situation).

But to be honest, they were the cutest models I have ever worked with, and I will photograph them again, any time !  Thank you Chiara and Luisa, I had a great morning !
